I've raised £7500 to help Harry Hoffen

On 13 January 2019, Harry suffered a serious injury while playing football for the OHAFC Veterans, breaking his left tibia, fibula and ankle so badly that, in the words of the medical staff who subsequently treated him, his foot was virtually "hanging off". Harry was left lying in the cold on the pitch for 3 hours before an ambulance could get to him, and then spent 6 agonising days in hospital before the swelling had reduced sufficiently to allow doctors to operate.
Harry is a 42-year-old self-employed builder who, as well as being deprived of the ability to play the game he loves for many months, now faces serious loss of earnings as he tries to get back on his feet. (A club insurance policy contains an exception for broken bones and will not respond to a claim.) This is, of course, on top of the significant expense of taxis, physio and other inevitable increases in his cost of living.
Above all, Harry is a terrific bloke who has been a great servant both for the OHAFC and also for the Representative XIs of the Arthurian League and the Amateur Football Alliance. He is much-loved by his team mates and (as far as we can tell!) respected by his opponents, with whom he is always ready to exchange a friendly word and a laugh. He needs help now and we hope that those team mates and opponents - and other well-wishers - will be prepared to dig deep to support him.
