Concerns that a 'bunch of kids jumped a homeless man and his dog' in Redruth.

Police were called to reports that a gang of teenagers had beaten up a homeless man and his dog near Redruth town clock last night.

On social media, one Redruth resident posted: "Any of you got a teenager roaming around Redruth tonight? Please check them for signs of blood or [having] been in a fight.

"My dad's just had to frighten off around 13 teenagers kicking the **** out of a homeless man and his dog."

Another resident contacted Cornwall Live expressing concern that a "bunch of kids" had "jumped a homeless man and his dog".

A spokesperson said: "Police were called at 8.15pm to Fore Street, Redruth following reports of an assault which took shortly after 7pm.

"Officers attended and spoke to the man, who did not wish to progress the matter."

Police have confirmed they were called to an incident, but said the man did not wish to press charges."

NOTE: If the homeless man cannot be located, or he does not wish to accept any money raised, the money will be donated to a local homeless charity.

FINAL UPDATE POST: Despite extensive searching by many of the agencies in Cornwall who support the homeless, the gentleman and his dog could not be located locally, in Cornwall. He is believed to have moved to an unknown location up Country. All of the money kindly donated has been donated on the St.Petrocs in Cornwall, to help them continue the work they do in supporting the homeless in the Cornish communities. I hope your kindness serves to help them. I would like to close by saying a massive, heartfelt Thank You to each and every one of you.
