Story
Every day men and women are released from prison with no hope of life on the outside. No home, no possessions, no job, no family. Many have addiction problems and have led lives of trauma and loss.
Our workers at On the Out know what it`s like to spend years in prison, and how lonely life on release can feel. We help people find accommodation, gain ID, overcome the barriers that can prevent a person feeling part of society. We stand beside people as they find their way, with real empathy and understanding.
On the first day of release a person has many things to do, which can feel overwhelming. For many this leads to a return to life on the streets, substance misuse or reoffending.
We are raising money to support a person on that initial night. Just £25 will fund a cheap b and b so that we can continue our support the next day, without losing that person to old lifestyles. It will give newly released prisoners a chance to rebuild their lives, with support from On the Out.
