I've raised £3000 to help fund Heels4Pads Baringo Drive in Baringo, Kenya where girls will be given Dignity Kits and menstrual hygiene talk in Oct 2020.

Heels4Pads Initiative operates predominantly in Kenya and was founded by Angela Waweru (me), Monicah Muhoya and Angela Wambui who run the Sister Speaks Global Organisation (www.sisterspeaksglobal.org). The ladies began the initiative as a CSR project aimed at raising awareness of period poverty challenges currently being experienced by girls and women across Kenya.
During this season of Lockdown and challenges faced due to Covid19, the Kenyan Government has taken great measures to ensure the virus doesn’t spread nationally. In order to achieve this there has been county to county lockdown which basically means you cannot leave the county you are in without an approved permit and in addition there is also a curfew where all operations must end by 9.00pm everyday. This combined with social distancing has therefore meant that low-income families in both slums and arid regions in Kenya are struggling immensely and as a result there have been high cases of sexual transactions in exchange for pads, crime rate is slowly increasing and families starving for they lack the financial power to ensure they not only have food but can also ensure they have basic amenities such as ensuring they have menstrual management products.
Heels4Pads over the last few months has been able to support girls and women based in slums within Nairobi through the distribution of Covid19 Relief Care Package that includes Pads and non-perishable foods too like porridge, maize meal and dense pack products of rice and beans.
Our visit in Samburu and Marsabit, which is Northern Kenya was successful thanks to all the contributions received. As a result we distributed 6,123 pads and panties to a total of 2,041 girls from 32 villages in both areas.

Following a recent Local News Story (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHblGAH_db8) indicating teenage girls in Baringo, Kenya are trading sex for pads and as result there has been increase of teen pregnancy. We have established 2,000 girls in seven villages in Baringo of whom we will not facilitate a girls mentorship program and menstrual and sexual reproductive health talk but each girl will receive a Dignity Kit.
The Dignity Kit includes:
x3 Disposable pads, x2 panties, x2 soaps and x1 reusable mask. We also hope to include reusable pads to.
