Story

We are almost there!

LET'S DO THIS!!

I have edited the amount of money we need. The borehole has been successfully drilled and water has been reached. We are now need money for a pump system, solar panels to power it and plumbing for the school to receive the water.

Here is a reminder of what we are doing and why.

Can you imagine not having a reliable water supply? - our recent droughts may have made us more aware of how essential water is. A secondary school in Malawi needs a reliable water supply. The pupils of the Henry Henderson Institute (a Christian School that has over 500 resident students) carry water from a tap for all their needs - and there are regular water cuts. Think of teenagers unable to shower, brush teeth, drink or do laundry without carrying a bucket. The solution is so simple - if they have a borehole and pump they can have all the water they need piped into their residences.

I visited this school in May 2022 - the photo shows the Head Teacher, Andrew; the Chaplain, Charles; and the chaplain's son, Moses. This school made me very welcome, the pupils were enthusiastic and keen to get a good education and to improve their lives and the future of Malawi. (I don't have the students' consent to show photos of them.)

The borehole has cost about £3300 which we raised, thank you. Now we are continuing our crowdfunding for the pump-station and plumbing - about another £9000
