We are He Ren and Shan Gao, and we came from Wuhan, China to UK twelve years ago for education and work. We are now both living in London, but we miss our beautiful hometown and go back every year.

As you all probably heard from the news, there is a new type of coronavirus, known as “Wuhan Virus” causing illness in China. As of 24 January 2020, the Chinese authorities had acknowledged more than 1,000 cases and 41 deaths. Authorities have quarantined the entire city of Wuhan and a handful of other cities, with all transportation halted. Currently, the city with a population of more than 10 million is seriously short of medical resources, such as masks, protective clothing, and clean up materials, especially for the medical practitioners, who are fighting in the front.

Hence, we are looking to raise an initial £5,000 to buy much needed medical resources for the area. All monies donated will go to Hubei Charity Federation, http://www.hbcf.org.cn/ and will hopefully, even in some small way, help people who are suffering in Wuhan.

1. 武汉缺什么？

经过就职于政府机关和医疗结构的本人的朋友了解到，由于疫情爆发速度之快，传播之广，武汉市各大医院的确出现了抢救物资极度缺乏当前的事实，尤其是防护用品，如护目镜，N95口罩，外科口罩等耗材。更多信息请见以下链接：

2. 既然缺物，为何捐钱？

第一，由于身处海外以个人形式进行采购以上稀缺物品，对于品控（如型号，医用标准等），清关以及如何准确有效地投放到指定医院或机构是个人捐赠者无法准确掌控的，需要具备一定的经验和医学专业背景。采购再包装并邮寄回武汉耗时巨大（春节期间延期风险更大），耽误疫情，加之武汉封城，外地私人物资更难进入。

第二，据在物流口的朋友了解到，物资出现缺口是区域性且暂时的，全国各地已开通绿色通道，调配其他地方资源赶往武汉，因此盲目捐物会造成捐赠过剩，从而浪费资源。

第三，在医疗口的朋友了解到，以上医疗物资价格飞涨，有很多不良商家借此发国难之财，私自囤货欲高价卖予企业，个人买家如想购买赠与医院更是需要承担高额的溢价。因此相对与捐物而言，将善款交予武汉慈善总会，红十字会等官方机构为更有效的途径。

3. 善款使用途径

武汉慈善总会。由于暂不接受“境外捐赠”（见下图），我将以实时汇率转为人民币本地账户，再捐给武汉市慈善总会，由其统筹购买。所有交易记录将透明公开，并如实公布在此网站页面。
