Story
I grew up in a time when my violin lessons were free. I have always been so grateful for my education, and the opportunities it gave me. We now live in a time where everything is paid for,. During the outbreak of Covid 19 it is a time when Music is needed so much by so many, I hope we can support the young people of Havering by making a donation, no matter how small, It will all go to the Music School to support our young people and their families. Havering Music School with support from the Havering Council and Arts Council England have continued to deliver online lessons fully subsidised.
The messages of gratitude from parents, children and staff at such a difficult time for all has been so heart warming. Making Music at 5pm every Friday, and seeing the reaction of children, parents and the neighbourhood when they hear music has truly made me understand the power of community spirit and how music brings us together. When we return to normal life, and we have our real lessons again, there will be many families will not be able to pay for music tuition, we may need new equipment and resources and our funds will be significantly lower so we may need to make do with what we have like everywhere else. I want this fund to be able to give us the chance to support all those in musical need. I will donate all the monies raised here to Friends of Havering Music School.
I know that there are many other causes out there that need support right now, so I fully understand that this will be just one more worthy cause. Please try and donate if you can to support music for our children, and if you enjoy our #FridayAtFiveHaveringMusicLive gig, then dig deep for those children who may need your support when this is all over, as music may not be a part of their lives if they can not afford it. Thankyou!
