I've raised £2000 to provide help for young people experiencing difficulties through mentoring in music and sport activities at Selkirk High School & Selkirk RFC

This fundraising venture is in memory of Harris Macdonell, a gentle, kind and talented lad who had vulnerabilities that made life more difficult for him. He found it hard to engage with the standard agencies but there was no tailored resource available for him to access help involving his own interests which were music and sport. Some young people need mentoring by adults who can share these interests and through activities gain trust and willingness to share what's on their mind. The money raised is expected to be used to train and help teachers and coaches to identify young people who may benefit from this help and develop skills that can be used on a one to one basis. The money raised will be used by Selkirk High School and Selkirk RFC together and an appropriate programme will be developed in collaboration with them.
This initiative has been set up by the Macdonell family.
