Story
2019 started off the happiest year of our lives. We had our dream wedding in June and then we found out the amazing news that we were having a baby. We were all so excited about adding another little person to our family, even more so when we found out we were having a boy.
On the 16th of december, my birthday, at almost 32 weeks pregnant, i went to the hospital with pains thinking that maybe our baby boy was making an early appareance, only to find out the devastating news that he no longer had a heartbeat. The next few days was a blur, telling our close family and friends, especially our daughter Mollie who was so excited to become a big sister, while also trying to come to terms with it oursleves. Two days later we made our way back to the hospital to be induced and our beautiful baby boy Harrie Marcus Kane made his way into the world on 18th december at 19.03pm weighing 2lb 14oz. He was the most perfect baby boy ive ever laid eyes on, who was the spitting image of his big sister Mollie.
We spent the next 3 days and nights in hospital, in the snowdrop room, this is a room for bereaved mums and dads to spend some precious time with their babies. Our family and close friends were able to come up and meet Harrie, give him cuddles, kisses & hugs and to make the most out of the time we had with him which was so special. Mollie also came up eachday and got to spend time with her brother, nobody got a look in for cuddles when Mollie was about! She absoutely adored him, I will treasure the memories we made over them few days as a family of 4 for the rest of my life.
Harrie then had to go to Alder hey hospital in Liverpool for his post mortem, while we organised his funeral. On Christmas eve when most parents watched their children get excited for santa coming we said our final goodbyes to our baby son.
Almost 5 months has passed since then and we are slowly adjusting to our ‘new normal‘ life, some good days and some days are really rough. The reason behind this fundraising is to help other parents who unfortunately will go through this heartbreaking tragedy and will have to spend time in the snowdrop room, a room that alot of people will never know exisits because until 18th december we didnt and why would we, nobody ever thinks that when they get pregnant they wont bring a perfect baby home from the hospital to make years of memories with.
The staff at the Royal maternity where amazing, especially our bereavment midwife Barbara who we will never be able to thank enough for everything she done for us that week and everyday since.
So we’re asking for donations no matter how much or how little every single penny is going to be spent on resources including things for memory boxes for parents and silblings, equipment for the room, staff training and all the little extras that made our stay in hopsital that little bit easier for us and also everything that was done for Mollie. One of many things I have learnt in the last few months is dont ever think it wont happen to you, because it can, I was at a scan the day before and seen our perfect baby move around and within 24 hours our world was turned upside down.
We are doing this is help other families that will walk this incredibly difficult journey but most importantly in honour of our first born son Harrie who will forever be with us in everything we do, talked about and so very loved 💙
All our love Aimee, Marcus, Mollie & Harrie xx
