Story
Haringey Learning Partnership is an alternative provision that offers students another chance of success, following a breakdown of their placement in a previous mainstream school due to a number of reasons such as behaviour needs, Special Educational Needs, social/emotional and ill health. Usually you’ll notice a pattern that there is a deeply honest, heartfelt story behind each child whose secondary school placement has failed. Yet, they are often labelled as 'difficult', 'naughty' and 'disruptive'. They arrive to us feeling rejected, dejected and with low self-esteem.
Our provision supports students to get their life back on track. We raise their aspirations by giving them the best education through a varied and enriching teaching curriculum, as well as a supportive and nurturing pastoral provision. This is all whilst we battle with the lack of funding. Through such efforts, this meant that last year the GCSE results from Haringey Learning Partnership were exceptional, surpassing national averages for alternative provision settings.
Our current year 11 cohort have shown real resilience and strength by studiously applying themselves in lessons and are now sitting their GCSE summer exams. They have been disciplined in attending all intervention sessions that were held on Saturdays and in the half term. Considering all the challenges they have faced (with many still experiencing personal struggles), having to re-adjust to a new environment mid-way through the academic year, they have done extremely well to remain intent on completing and succeeding in their exams.
As a reward for their efforts, also because they are so deserving of a celebration, we would like to organise a prom for them. Due to a very small budget that we currently have, we will not be able to offer them a prom at a decent scale. Therefore, we rely on the kindness and generosity of wonderful people like you to allow us to provide them with a marvellous send off. We are hoping to spend the money on decorations, food, a DJ, entertainment (photobooth, games etc) and any other items to host a spectacular prom.
Our students deserve to have a prom like all other students their age. It will be an everlasting memory to know that they are celebrated and seen. Please help to make this happen!
