    Story

This is a funding page to support families of children born with congenital heart disease.

Our Daughter, Penelope Koa Viola Li-Ying Saxon was Born on May 26th 2022 with undetected Heart Disease. At just 10 days old she had her first open heart surgery. Due to multiple post operative complications, Penelope spent 112 days in Southampton Hospital where she underwent further major operations.

Penelope was born with a Coarctation of Aorta, ASD, VSD and Transposition of the Great of Arteries. She had open heart surgery to correct these defects at 10 days old.

She had another operation because of prolonged fluid on her lungs, called a Bilateral pleurectomy and thoracic duct ligation.

Penelope suffered many complications - sepsis and strokes which caused damage to her brain affecting her mobility of the left hand side of her body.

She was finally well enough to go home in September 2022 and continues on the road to recovery supported by her 3 siblings and loving family.

We are forever grateful to all the staff at Southampton Hospital, they were all absolutely incredible.

Hello everyone, Thank you all so much for your generosity. After 112 days in hospital, Penelope finally came home in September and she's doing amazingly. We have donated the money to two charities - £2000 to Friends of PICU. The charity of the intensive care unit that Penelope spent 10 long weeks in. The second charity is Ronald Macdonald House - we donated the remaining £450. This charity enabled us to stay close to Penelope the whole time she was in hospital. Merry Christmas & HNY Andrew, Verity, Lyla, Sebastian, Theodora and Penelope x
