Story
I am looking to start a social enterprise to help others who are going through the minefield of cancer.
To convert a van to create a luxury beauty salon that will provide high quality beauty treatments wherever my client prefers. It will be a safehaven that will provide a service for those going through treatment or who are post treatment for cancer.
As a previous cancer patient, I understand that apperance, alongside the worry of exposure to infections, are the main factors as to why a client undergoing cancer treatment may not venture out. By bring the salon to them I will be preventing them from the exposure of other salon clients, who may not realise the importance of their health, as well as improving their sense of wellbeing.
At 28, I was diagnosed with vaginal cancer. It was very aggressive and metastasesised to my lungs. For the past 2 years, I've had countless treatments to combat the cancer and for a period of time they've managed to stabalise it.
Historically, therapists were advised not to treat clients with cancer, due to the unquantified impact this may have on the person's health and illness. Now however, clinical research highlights the benefits of massage therapy and other treatments for improving a client's overall sense of health and wellbeing, and there is no reason that they shouldn't enjoy treatments.
With a lack of understanding, therapists can unintentionally isolate those wanting a treatment due to the emotional impact it can have on the therapist. With my extensive accreditations in beauty therapy, and a diploma in oncology beauty therapy, I will provide a personalised service for each client using products that will relieve the strains cancer and its treatments can leave on the body. With prior understanding of the effects that cancer can have mentally and physically, I can create a safehaven where a client will feel comfortable, without invading their personal space.

6 years agoSo you may have noticed that I have changed the total of what I am raising. This is because I have been very kindly donated a van!! Because the van is an asset it means that it doesn't appear on the crowdfunding page. So instead I have taken the value of it away from the grand total that I am trying to raise. (crowdfunding doesn't show other donations made like a charity page) It also means any future cash donations that I receive, (that I have set up in a separate business account) will be deducted from the grand total I am raising too.
