Story
UPDATE 8th June 2020
270,000 people have now washed their hands so far because of this handwashing campaign.
Our campaign is still going and is still having a massive impact on the community of Fort Dauphin. Whats more - its having a permanent impact and people are beginning to make handwashing habitual. We now hire 75 people, mostly unpaid primary school teachers out of a job because schools are closed and 85% of whom are female.

We are still welcoming donations and the money will go directly into ensuring people have access to handwashing facilities in Fort Dauphin's busiest places. Thank you for your continued support!
Thank you!
Harry
Donate a handwashing station in Madagascar
Help us slow the spread of Covid-19 in a town that doesn’t have the resources to cope.
As the cases of Coronavirus begin to rise across Madagascar, we’re bracing ourselves for the outbreak in our southeastern town of Fort Dauphin. Madagascar is critically under-resourced with only 20 doctors for every 100,000 people. To put that into perspective, the UK has 280 for every 100,000 people! We’re desperately worried that our local healthcare services will struggle to cope as more people start falling ill. Inevitable as the outbreak feels, we know we can do our bit to mitigate the spread as long as we act quickly.
Starting today, our team at Tatirano Social Enterprise hopes to bring clean, safe handwashing stations to Fort Dauphin. This is where you come in; a handwashing station costs just £5 a day. We have the logistics ready to go, now we just need your support.
Our goal of £2,240 would allow us to keep all 16 handwashing stations open for an extra month - we’re funding the first week but we need your help to keep them open for as long as they are needed. If you are able to, please consider giving:
£5 / $6.50 - could provide a handwashing station in Fort Dauphin for a day.
£35/ $45.50 - could provide a handwashing station in Fort Dauphin for a week.
What's more, we are employing 48 teachers from various Primary level schools across Fort Dauphin that otherwise do not have an income at the moment.
100% of your donation will go towards keeping the stations open. When you donate we’ll send you the location (on Google Maps ) and a photo of the handwashing station you’ve helped set up! That way, you’ll be able to see the impact your money has had, just make sure to email your name to info@tatirano.org.
Handwashing is one of the most effective ways we can prevent the spread of Covid-19, help us build these stations today!
