We are currently undertaking a project to turn a tired, old, empty classroom in to an immersive, interactive learning space. This creative room will include a huge, wrap around projected image across three walls with interactive floor panels, surround sound, wind machine and aroma generator. This will be a space where classes can go to learn about new topics and immerse themselves in to any possible environment, be it an underwater adventure in the Pacific Ocean, perching on top of a volcano and looking down in to the earth’s core or orbiting the earth in the International Space Station. How exciting does this sound?

This approach to teaching and learning has proven to have positive impact in children's ability to learn and expand their capability to learn. We would also like to use this environment as a way of targeting the development of children’s vocabulary and comprehension, which we hope, will have a positive impact on their academic achievements within reading and writing amongst other things.

This is also another fantastic way of engaging those reluctant learners out there. Starting a Literacy session off with a visit to the ‘Imagination Station’ will be so engaging for our pupils and just think of the vocabulary and creativity that they will be encouraged to use in their writing after having this 4D experience.

As you might imagine this is a going to be quite an expensive project and our budget constraints are quite tight. We have already raised £8000 through the kind donations already received. The PTA have committed the money raised from the Christmas Fayre this year to help in this exciting project and the school have allocated some of the school fund to contribute to costs. However, this is not enough and we really don’t want to have to scale down our creative idea that we know will inject those ‘wow’ learning moments to the children's weekly experiences at Grange.

We are also looking to crowd fund some of the project and we would really like you to get involved. You can do this in a couple of ways. Firstly, by making a donation to our crowd funding project. Secondly, we will be requiring some work completing on the room before we can begin creating the space. We need new windows and blinds, the walls will need plastering and we would love a new carpet. If any of these are something that you think you can help with then please get in touch. The more things we can source through our community the more money we can focus on purchasing the technology.

This Creative ‘Imagination Station’ is something that we want to be a lasting feature at Grange School and we can’t wait to be able to show you around once it is up and running before Easter 2019 all being well.
