Isle of Man Police Youth Scheme Charity Event 29th May 2021

As a cadet group we have decided to raise money for Graih. Graih is a Manx word meaning love and charity. The small charity is based in Douglas seeking to support and serve the homeless and those in insecure accommodation. According to England.shleters "You are homeless if you have nowhere to stay and are living on the streets, but you can be homeless even if you have a roof over your head. You count as homeless if you are: staying with friends or family, staying in a hostel, night shelter or B&B".

On the Isle of Man we don't often see homeless people but this doesn't mean that their aren't people struggling. Graih is a charity that helps homeless people by giving them shelter, food and warmth.

The Isle of Man Police Youth Scheme is going to be homeless for a night on the Douglas streets to raise the awareness of Graih and its important work. We are also going to be undertaking a cycling and walking challenge in the strand shopping center during the day and are aiming to walk / cycle over 250 miles. This will be a mental and physical challenge for the cadets

We are also giving you the chance to sponsor someone from your work, school or even an MHK to come out with us. Iif you would like to support us in this endeavour by either making a donation or sponsoring an employee to join us for either part or the entire night or some of the workout in the strand shopping center. All proceeds from the event will be going to charity.
