Iʼm raising £150,000 to support AFC Wimbledon in getting games on following flood damage to the pitch and stadium

Don't have time to donate right now?

Story

I'm raising money to help AFC Wimbledon get games on following damage to the stadium and pitch due to the extensive flooding over the course of 22-23rd September, which left the club having to call off games and destroyed the pitch.

The money raised will go towards helping the club deal with any costs associated with the floods and could range from repairs to pump hire to rental of an alternative venue - that will be decided by the Club.

We have been in touch with the Club and been assured that any help would be appreciated.

As you may know, AFC Wimbledon is a fan-owned club and the ability to play games in front of crowds is crucial to its existence.

A cup game against Premier League Newcastle on September 24 was postponed and it looks as though games could be cancelled for an extended period..

AFC Wimbledon is more than a lower league football club - it is admired for its work in the local community through the AFC Wimbledon Foundation charity, while Dons Local Action Group have distributed food for more than six million meals to those in need since 2020.

On the field, the club joined the Football League in 1977 and rose through the divisions, becoming founder members of the Premier League and going on to win the FA Cup in 1988.

The club reformed in 2002, starting again at the lowest rung of non-league football before rejoining the Football Leage just nine years later.

The club now competes in English football’s League Two.

For anyone who hasn’t seen the news, we will be back hosting a game this Saturday Oct 12th for the first time since the flood damage to the pitch and stadium. This has been made all the easier thanks to everyone who rallied around so generously. As a token of appreciation, Head Of Stadium Tours Stuart Deacons would like to offer anyone who contributed a free tour of the Cherry Red Records Stadium this Friday (Oct 11). Please see attached image for how to claim your free tour. Thanks again, enjoy the tour and hopefully see you at the game.

With a HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated or shown their support, we have raised a mindblowing £122,000 - hopefully covering the short-term costs associated with fixing the pitch/stadium. So we’re going to pause this page for now. From the club: https://www.afcwimbledon.co.uk/news/2024/september/27/statement-on-fundraising/ The way Wimbledon fans answer the call every single time never ceases to amaze, while how the wider football community has rallied around us has been nothing short of breathtaking. Once again, thank you. 💛💙

I’ve genuinely run out of superlatives to describe the generosity of Wimbledon fans, those in our local community and the wider football community at this point. Simply breathtaking. Shouldn’t be surprised anymore, I guess, but will never stop being impressed at how everyone has rallied around to show their support We have no idea yet when we might be able to get games and events on again, but I’ve been told your generosity will absolutely make a difference in helping the club get through this. Thank you so much.
