Story
We are a group of six nurses and mechanics based in Scotland.
Recently, we found a disused box trailer on the side of the A71 and are turning into a mobile foot clinic and cinema. In February 2017 we plan to drive across Europe with it to provide foot care and a warm cinema for anyone that needs it: locals and undocumented migrants alike. Our plan is to stop to meet contacts in refugee camps in Dunkirk, Turin and Ventimiglia, adopting our schedule as the situation demands.
We've also got the facilities to provide basic first aid, music, phone charging, cups of tea, cracking banter and head massages. At a time of rising political tensions in the West our aims are simple- to bring people together and show practical solidarity with people making difficult journeys.
We have undertaken similar projects both at home and in places like Calais: running mobile foot care clinics, basic/ alternative first aid tents, and cinema set-ups. This time we are looking to venture further afield. We're not sure what to expect. This is our attempt to figure out how to use our skills to interact with the situation. At present we are running off of a bit of fund-raising we did and out of our own pockets.
The money you donate will go to fund the materials for the building of the mobile clinic and running costs of the project. The trailer is to function as a mobile foot care clinic: with a sink unit, a wood burner, 2 bed spaces and storage cabinets for medical supplies. In addition, an outdoor heated tent space will house the cinema which will include a seating area and a tea/ snack station. We have been holding regular work-weekends since September 2016.
We are also looking for donations in-kind: foot care/ medical supplies, new socks and a tea urn. If you have some time to spare, please get in touch to come to one of our build days in Glasgow.
Any help you could offer would be deeply appreciated.

8 years agoWe have turned a corner! It is starting to look slightly more like a 'mobile foot care clinic' than a heap of trash! Hooray! We've still got a lot of work to do BUT the trailer is now road-worthy. We've got a giant tea urn, a cinema set up, medical supplies and dressings... Once again, thanks everyone who has offered their time, energy, ideas, donations, constructive criticism and kind words of support!!! We are feeling pretty energized to do our best to pay this forward to people that need it. our love and respect xx gfc
