Story
Hensell Goat Rescue Feed, Care & Welfare Fund
Our funds are critically low!
This past year, due to high costs of living and people's change in circumstances, we have found our small rescue taking in several more goats than we had budgeted to feed, care and look after but we wanted to be able to help.
Some of these goats have complicated issues and traumatic back stories and require extra care, which, has seriously depleated the goats fund bank account but it has been necessary to spend the money to provide the goats with a safe and secure home, a warm bed and food, supplements and medicines to give them their best life possible.
We had made arrangements for several rehabilitated goats to be rehomed together as a group at the end of the summer but sadly at this did not materialise. Over the autumn months extra high and secure fencing and revamping their accommodation was necessary, which, even with the extra donations from some of our regular, very kind and generous supporters it still cost much more than we had expected. The materials costs has exceeded £1500 to date and it is still unfinished. This is a lot of money for a small rescue like Hensell Goat Rescue Care Farm CIC to raise and then spend on one isolated project, especially when it wasn't budgeted for nor, expected.
Unfortunately there is still more work needed to be done. There is some urgent replacement fencing needed on the perimeter of the farm to prevent the animals from straying from the farm, (goats can jump incredibly high - even the small ones can jump in excess of 4 feet from a stand still) and some paddocks require splitting into smaller paddocks for the smaller goat herds, along with isolation paddocks for when new goats join the farm to prevent any spread of diseases, comply with standstill legislation and also to allow them time to settle in and understand that they have now arrived at a happy place and that they are safe.
During the winter months it is incredibly hard to fund raise with events and fun activities but the work is still very much needed to ensure all the goats have their own personal space or are grouped with similar types of goats to prevent bullying or injury.
Our appeal is to give these goats, who have arrived at the farm for many reasons, types of traumas and unfortunate causes, the very happiest and natural way of living their lives. In roomy paddocks with lots of natural vegetation, climbing equipment for enrichment, comfortable accommodation to shelter from all weathers including wind, rain and too much sun and sheltered hay racks to prevent the elements from spoiling their food.
If you can spare a few pounds or even just the price of a cup of coffee, every penny really helps and 100% of donations does genuinely go to the goats. We do not pay any wages or take any expenses from any funding. Every penny you donate goes directly to these delightful, comical creatures. All our wonderful Volunteers give their time freely and generously. You can be assured that your kind donation will definitely benefit the Hensell animals.
Thank you for taking the time to read our plea...

4 months agoHensell Goat Rescue CIC would like to say a massive "Thank you" to all our supporters and followers who have been so generous and very kindly donated to our current appeal. This year, there are many factors and circumstances beyond our control which will make this winter an exceptionally difficult one. Every penny donated is very much appreciated as 100% goes directly to the welfare, feed and care of the animals and we rely soley on the kindness of donations and fund raisers. Even the smallest of donations really helps. Thank you

5 months agoThank you to all our fabulous supporters who have helped us achieve our £500 target, we are extremely grateful for your generosity. However!... Due to the Bluetongue Disease and newly imposed Animal and Plant Health Agency restrictions we are now unable to rehome some of the goats who had found lovely forever homes for this autumn and this will severally impact on our planned budget over the next few months. We will therefore be doing more fund raisers soon to enable Hensell Goat Rescue to continue. Thank you

6 months agoAlthough we have an abundance of grass at the moment, Hensell Goat Rescue Care Farm CIC are already making plans for buying winter hay and bedding plus supplements used daily i.e. Caprivite Angorra which is expensive, Meloxicam for Dolly for her arthritis. Tico and Charlotte need a dectomax jab for their skin condition plus a general vets review. Our target of £500 will soon disappear when these invoices have been paid and the challenge to keep funds coming in is a constant worry. a donation to this account no matter how small really helps

Due to the Bluetongue disease, we are now unable to let the rehabilitated goats go to their new forever homes until APHA lift the movement restriction and this will badly affect our planned winter budget. We have already had unexpected vet bills and we need to raise extra funds
