Story
Hello, I'm Sean from the Gloucestershire Badger Group and I'm raising £300 to help protect our beleaguered badgers.
Bumble the badger and I are taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Fuji next week.
Our ascent starts from Gotemba 5th Station, which is around 1,400 m above sea level to the summit at 3,776m, which should take approximately 13 hours.
It is the most difficult route to the summit, so attracts the fewest number of climbers and so far, NO BADGERS!
There are few landmarks on the trail, so it is easy to get lost at night or in thick fog, but the badgers are worth it!
So anything you donate would be a great help.

4 months agoThank you everyone who has donated for Sean and Bumble's epic ascent to Mt Fuji. Two bit of great news are that they made back safely, although tired AND also exceeded their target with an amazing £345 raised for Gloucestershire Badger Group! You can still donate, to bump this figure up if you wish. Just Giving page is still open and every little helps us to promote badger welfare, work "in the field", purchasing rescue equipment and attend badger incidents when injured. Thank you so much for your support

5 months agoOn their descent they were hit by a big squall, caused by Typhoon ‘Shanshan’, which was potentially dangerous, but it decreased in severity as they lost altitude. Very difficult and painful descent. Journey time about 9 hours. The flag with bumble reads 'conquered 3776 metres' and 'Mt Fuji summit.' Well done Sean and Bumble, adventurers for the badgers!

5 months agoThey did it! The Gotemba Trail was far too hazardous with the Typhoon, so they changed to the Subashiri Trail… Sean and Bumble ascended in about 4.5 hours, from Subashiri 5th station. They were welcomed at the summit from the small hut there, and offered them vegan curry and coffee (2000 yen) (£10) weather was not good, quite cold, windy, with rain/sleet.
