Story
Our colleague and friend, Sergeant Gerard Jackson, tragically died on Friday 24th August 2018, leaving behind his wife, Laura, and his son, Seb.
While at work, Gez often spoke of his family, talking about them with the utmost love and pride. While nothing can ease their grief, this page seeks to raise money for them to show our support and to honour Gez’s life.
Gez was an absolute privilege to work with. It speaks volumes that everyone who knew him from any point in his career has paid tribute to his compassion, his care for others, and his infinite talent in everything he did. He was both a respected and trusted colleague, and a dear friend to many.
After “passing out” from Hendon in December 2008, Gez started at Westminster where he was quickly identified as being a top street cop. With his natural wit and disarming charm, he continued to excel throughout his time with the TSG, both as a Police Constable and then as an Acting Sergeant. His strength of leadership was universally recognised - he was promoted to Sergeant and took up post at Redbridge. There, he supported his response team through unparalleled change and continued to obtain the respect of all whom he met on the way. When an Acting Inspector post became available in the Summer, Gez’s talent and dedication made him the obvious choice. He was looked up to by those he managed and admired by those who managed him. Gez worked so hard, not just for the public, but for those he worked alongside; he represented the very best of the MPS.
Work will never be the same without Gez’s entertaining stories, his updates on the woes of SAFC, his intelligent insight, and his consistently sound advice. He will be so missed by us all, and never forgotten.
