Story
ALTHOUGH 14-YEAR-OLD PARA SWIMMER JACOB CHAMBERS HAS BEEN SELECTED TO REPRESENT ENGLAND AT THE 2018 CPISRA WORLD GAMES, JACOB'S FAMILY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF HIS TRIP TO BARCELONA, WHERE THE GAMES WILL BE HELD.
FOR AN EVERYDAY WORKING-CLASS FAMILY LIKE JACOBS, IT IS DIFFICULT TO RAISE THIS AMOUNT OF FUNDS WITHOUT SUPPORT.
ABOUT JACOB:
Jacob Chambers is a 14 year old Para Swimmer from Manchester.
Born with Cerebral Palsy - Right Side Hemiplegic, Jacob has partial paralysis on the right side of his body and difficulties associated with his memory and processing skills.
However, with a Swimming Teacher for a Mum, Jacob found himself in the swimming pool, not long after birth!! These days, there is no-where he would rather be!
Jacob is a motivated, committed and talented swimmer, who dreams to one day compete at the Para Olympics and he is working very hard to make this dream come true.
This 14 year old trains a minimum of 5 nights a week and also competes most weekends.
HE IS NOW ONE OF THE UK’S MOST PROMISING JUNIOR PARA SWIMMERS.
Jacob currently swims for the ‘City of Manchester Swimming Club’ which is based at the renowned ‘Manchester Aquatics Centre’.
WHY WE ARE FUND RAISING
In the UK, one of the main barriers to success for young athletes like Jacob, is the increasing expense of training and competing at the higher levels within their sport.
As Jacob’s sporting success has increased, so has the yearly financial burden faced by his parents. This is a common obstacle faced by working class families in the UK, who are trying to support a talented child in their chosen sport.
THE CPISRA WORLD GAMES: Jacob is one of the youngest para swimmers selected to represent England at this years CPISRA World Games. The Games will be hosted this August by Spain and events will take place within the city of Barcelona.
However, in the UK, parents of talented young athletes must pay the cost associated with their child’s attendance at such events.
All athletes selected for the CPISRA World Games in Barcelona, are responsible for paying the cost of their own flights, food, accommodation and England kit.
In addition, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Jacob’s family to meet the ongoing yearly cost associated with his elite level training, competitions and the associated physiotherapy.
FOR EVERYDAY WORKING-CLASS FAMILIES LIKE JACOBS, THESE RISING COSTS ARE UNSUSTAINABLE WITHOUT SUPPORT!!
SUPPORTING THE STARS OF TOMORROW: It is important that Great Britain retains talented young athletes like Jacob, that come from working class backgrounds. We must ensure that our Nations potential future sporting heroes, are not stopped from reaching their potential, because the financial burden of high level training and competition becomes too much for families to afford.
JACOB IS AN AMAZING, CHARISMATIC YOUNG MAN, THAT DESERVES OUR SUPPORT.
THEREFORE, WE ARE RAISING FUNDS TO ENSURE:
- That we have the funds required to send Jacob to the CPISRA World Games, where he will represent England in Barcelona this August – an honour Jacob has worked really hard to achieve!
- That Jacob is able to keep training and competing at the highest levels in 2018/19.
- That Great Britain retains one of its most promising junior para swimmers of the future.
Please support Jacob and his family by making a donation today!
