I've raised £200 to donate to environmental education at Edith Stephens Nature Reserve, in honour of George Davis. This amount is just a guide, not a goal.

The vast majority of George’s professional life was dedicated to the preservation of South Africa’s stunning and vital biodiversity. While his day job at the South African National Botanical Institute (SANBI) took many iterations during his decades-long tenure, his involvement with the Edith Stephens Nature Reserve stands out as a period of genuine passion and a feeling of making a difference.
Providing environmental and biodiversity education opportunities for the future generations of South Africa – particularly in lower-income communities – was more than a priority for George; it was a calling. That’s why all funds raised through this page will go toward the environmental education centre at the Edith Stephens Nature Reserve.
Cape Town is unique due to its high concentration of local flora and fauna species. Our nature reserves protect and conserve our city’s natural areas and biodiversity heritage. Edith Stephens Nature Reserve has picnic sites, environmental education, a venue for hire as well as various events held annually.
The environmental education centre provides local residents and schools with conservation, recreational and educational opportunities, from teacher's workshops to children's holiday programmes.
