Story

Global ENT Outreach prevents avoidable deafness and death from ear disease in the developing world.

With your help, we can help the world hear again

We are a non-profit organisation committed to creating sustainable improvements to the medical and surgical care of people with ear disease worldwide. We do this by training local doctors to provide high quality medical and surgical care to their patients.

Of Ethiopia’s 104 million inhabitants, almost 80% live in rural communities and have poor access to health care, including Ear, Nose & Throat surgery. Currently, there are 23 fully-trained ENT doctors (a ratio of 1: 4.5 million). In contrast, the UK has approximately one ENT surgeon per 100 000 population.

We have an active outreach mission at the Ayder Referral Hospital in Mekelle, Northern Ethiopia. Training ear surgeons requires specialist equipment and dissection laboratories. Our aim is to build the first temporal bone laboratory in the region, which is essential to train local surgeons to treat ear disease. To do this, we need your help to fund equipment (microscopes, drills, surgical instruments) and transport to Mekelle.

Every penny you donate goes to improving the care of patients with ear disease in Ethiopia.
