Last year I visited the Calais and Dunkirk region of France as a volunteer for RCK and Help Refugees UK. What I saw was hundreds of people living in hope and desperation for a new life away from their war torn home countries, in search of a chance to improve their own and their familys' life chances. In reality, they were now living in squalor and being subjected to maltreatment by the CRS police and ignored by both the French and the UK government's.

Today, this crisis remains and from what I have heard from the volunteers who work tirelessly all year round to support these people, the situation is spiralling.

Last year I took a car full of donations over (thank you to everyone who helped with that) but this year I'm raising money by cycling over to Calais!

I've not really cycled for over a year so it will certainly be a challenge!! Any donation that you give will spur me on to reach my destination... once there, I will be volunteering in the kitchen for a week as, unfortunately, that is the only time I can spare at the moment.

The Media has long gone forgotten the people in Calais...I haven't and I don't want you to either!
