I've raised £14000 to Raise £1000/boat to help us sail in Australia for the Cadet World Championships 2022 and take GBR cadet sailing to victory.

Story

Hello, we are a group of junior cadet sailors who have been selected to represent our country at a World Championships and running alongside, a promotional sailing regatta in Melbourne, Australia in December 2022. We are trying to raise money to help fund this once in a life-time opportunity that we have been given to represent Team GBR.

ABOUT US: We range from ages 8 to 16 and we all share the same passion and drive for the sport we love, having fun and competing at a high level. Not only this but sharing team spirit and supporting one another till the last finish! Team GB is one of the best sailing nations in the world, and our ambition is to keep this fact the same for years to come.

WHAT IS A CADET? A Cadet is a 3.2m sailing dinghy, sailed by two people, built specifically for a pathway into Olympic double handers, opening opportunities for the future . The boat is helmed by an older person with a younger person crewing for them. This means the older helm can help nurture the crew into another confident and determined sailor for GB. Many of us helms started out as small crews when we were around 7 years old, and over the years this is what we have been building up to compete for, after a long campaign.

WHERE WILL YOUR MONEY GO? Your donations will help us to fund a team container that will hopefully take 12 boats and get them shipped to Australia during late summer, this in itself brings many challenges and difficulties that are not easy to overcome. If we raise enough money it will also help us to get a coach in Australia who knows the water and the area where we are sailing.

OUR GOAL: As a team, we want to raise enough funds collectively to make this opportunity the best possible and help team GBR to victory against the rest of the cadet classes around the World.
