I've raised £500 to raise money for local charities that helped Ollie whilst he had his chemotherapy, by taking part in the 2019 Aquathlon World championships.

I have been selected to take part in the 2019 Pontevedra ITU Aquathlon World Championships, in May 2019 where I will be representing team GB in the event for my Age group, 35-39
I have always been passionate about fitness and have taken part in various running races over the years. Three years ago, at the age of 3 my youngest son was diagnosed with LCH cancer and a few weeks later I got a ballot place in the London marathon. To escape the pressures, I started training for the London marathon. I ran a fantastic time and raised money for a childrens cancer charity. My time also qualified me for a ‘Good for Age’ place in the next London marathon.
This year I wanted to do something different. I decided to go back to a sport I used to love during my childhood, swimming. I joined Hastings and Rother triathlon club a few days after signing up for the 2-mile swim Serpentaine.
My first aquathlon was in June at Ashburnhan Place in which I came first overall. Coach Paul Harris at Hastings and Rother tri club explained my times would fit into the criteria to apply for the world championships this year, however unfortunately I had missed the closing date by a day.
Spurred on by this, I decided that this is what I want to do, so I took part in the following races in which I had great success:
Whitsable surf and turf- 2nd female overall,
London aquathlon, 2nd female overall,
Water land aquathlon- 2nd female overall,
Ashburnhan Place 10K run- 3rd female overall,
East Grinstead aquathlon- 1st female overall
Waterland aquathlon- 3rd female overall
I also took part in the National Aquathlon Championships. This was against people already in the GB team and in this event I came 1st in my AG making me the new ‘2018 National Champion’. In addition, I came 9th lady in overall. From this result I qualified and have been selected to represent Great Britain in April at the 2019 Pontevedra ITU Aquathlon World Championships.
Ollie is now in remission and is doing well with regualar 3 monthly checks at Great Ormond Street Hospital. When he was ill 2 charities supported us ‘charity for kids’ a local charity based in Hastings and ‘Children with Cancer fund’’ based in Polgate who Ollie will continue to be under and take part in the activities they set up. Both charities are close to mine and my families hearts and continue to help local children and bring a smile to their faces.
