Story
48 Heures du Le Men
These two charities make a difference in the lives of people. Not just the immediate recipients, but their families too. The three of us want to add to their ability to do that.
To do that we, Gary Toward, Mark (Haff) Haughan and Neil (Nelly) Povey, have teamed up to broadcast live on the radio for 48 HOURS non-stop. Gary because he's a trustee of Bamboozle, Haff because he's a DJ for Radio Gwendolen and Nelly because he's a proper DJ and all round good bloke.
We'll have brilliant guests, music and links from all over the globe. We'd love you to help us change lives by both sticking your hand in your pocket, sharing our event and listening in.
BAMBOOZLE THEATRE creates amazing therapeutic arts experiences that change the lives of young disabled people and their families. Gary is a trustee of Bamboozle and has witnessed the work the team do first hand. "I watched the team at work with four severely disabled young people. I have never seen such an approach before. The young people lit up and sparkled. Parents told me afterwards that those small things make huge differences to their children's lives."
" The extra special light that comes from within Lily after she’s been to a Bamboozle workshop; her excitement, her joy and her expressive eagerness to communicate tells us all we need to know about how much Lily values Bamboozle." Hayley and Steve Smith -parents
And it's not just the young people that benefit. It's something for the family, something that brings them together as a family having fun and learning, doing what most families take for granted.
Bamboozle supports families free of charge. In order to do so we have to raise funds.
Anyone who's ever stayed in hospital knows just how tedious the stay can be. Radio Gwendolen brightens up peoples' lives at difficult times, all run by volunteers. Haff is one such volunteer and DJs The Colour Blind Blues Show every Sunday evening as well as other shows, including Haff's Hijack.
With Nelly's expert support, we'll be dressing up like racing car drivers and attempting to DJ our way through 48hrs of twists, turns and bends - and that's only our dance moves! Listen in for our brilliant musical choices, jokes, games, witty banter, phone ins and interviews celebs - and some famous people too!
We'd like to raise some funds to update the kit in the studio, so Radio Gwendolen can go on brightening up the stay for the patients at the General Hospital.
