Story
Fulham Cemetery is one of the most beautiful green spaces in southwest London, a calm urban oasis, with many species of trees, supporting a great variety of wildlife. Many local residents would like to help to care for its monuments, trees, and wildlife. But previously there was no way for them to coordinate their efforts.
Fulham Cemetery Friends was started in July 2023 with the initial goal of watering the 36 new trees planted by the Council over the following summers. Over 60 people have joined and as of May 2024, all trees are receiving regular watering. The Friends also have many plans: removing weeds and bramble overgrowth, cataloguing the graves and making their stories more accessible, and educating the public on the cemetery's trees and wildlife.
Fulham Cemetery Friends is currently not a charity or association, and we do not charge a membership fee. This fundraiser is only to cover expenses, which is currently paid by the founder member. All expenses are logged on the Friends' Notion website, which is accessible by request to all members.
