Hello, a group of friends have been planning to run a half marathon; however after many postponments we have decided to go our own way and run the 'F**k you COVID' half marathon October 24 2021. "My mum and my stepdad both had cancer at the same time, unfortunately my stepdad passed away after a good fight with lung cancer. 

My lovely mum is still here and in 2017 started a charity in his name - The Jasper King Trust. He was an amazing man, he was a world renowned street performer, the most caring dad and friend to many. 

Whilst they were both ill he wasn’t allowed to fly so they went on lots of respite breaks in Scotland, to get away from the hospital and spend time together, we always knew his time would be limited so these breaks meant so much. 

They had big plans pre cancer to move to Isle of Eigg were they spent a lot of time, eventually it became too remote in terms of health care for him to safely visit but they started going to Harvest Moon in East Lothian, where they could really disconnect and be with nature. 

After he passed away my mum set up The Jasper King Trust in his name to provide respite holidays for families affected by cancer, we work along side Maggie’s to find suitable families. We started by sending them to Eigg for a week, which was magical but soon realised they had to be quite well to be able to adventure that far - so we teamed up with Harvest Moon and have sent a couple of families for breaks there every year since.

Our holidays cost nothing for the families, we work with photographer Sinead Firman, who visits the families at Harvest Moon for a mini photo session so they have memories they can share and keep forever.

A holiday costs the Trust around £600, we are fully funded through fundraising by lovely people like yourselves. COVID-19 has hit the charity sector (like many!) very hard, our usual ways of fundraising such as events, sponsorship have had to be put on hold, yet we’ve managed to send two families to Harvest Moon for holidays this year, thanks to the generosity of Harvest Moon."
