Story
When I became the Bishop of Swindon in 2005, I had little idea of what the question posed to me in 2018 "what will Swindon do for you?" was to have upon me. Without going into details, what Swindon has done for me is opened my heart to the needs of the most disadvantaged in our communities.
With this in mind, I cycled, together with Chris Stanley, from Land's End to John O'Groats (from the Bottom to the Top of the country) over two weeks in July. We were looking to raise as much as we can for Swindon people who feel themselves to be at the bottom of society with little hope of things changing.
Little did we realise how much tougher things would get as the cost of living crisis unfolded. Our plan was to provide additional support just before the Christmas season. We now are looking to extend this into the winter months, and are therefore looking to you to make this possible.
Please make your donation above, on this JustGiving page.
If you can donate with Gift Aid, and wish to, please donate through our partnership with the Wiltshire Community Foundation, by copying the link below and pasting into a browser

P.S. If you are fortunate enough to be in a position to share some of your government rebate (winter fuel allowance or energy bill discount), those who would benefit from it will be hugely grateful.

2 years agoWith the closing of 'From the Bottom to the Top' now in view we approached some generous contacts and invited them to consider supporting the Appeal through offering donations which we could ask others to match. We are now within touching distance of our target of £10,000 by the end of March. With a little more matched funding as well as modest contributions from those who have yet to hear about the Appeal we might even get beyond this target. Please continue to spread the word to support the most disadvantaged in Swindon. We are so grateful.

2 years agoThanks to the generosity of members of the Fellowship for Parish Evangelism, the donations he has received from local congregations when taking services, and from BBC Wilts listeners, we are delighted to report that we are now only £2,500 from the £10,000 target. These are off-line donations and will not show in the JustGiving total above and mean we are 75% of the way there. Inviting people to give just £1 can really make a difference when 100+ people join in - can you help more people to do the same? Blessings from the team

2 years agoMassive thanks to Swindon Town Football Club for their support for From the Bottom to the Top. On Saturday we were the charity for the day at the match with Grimsby Town. Not only was the fundraising amazing, but Swindon knocked in five goals with none conceded and the return of the much-loved Charlie Austin ended with him being made Man-of-the-Match. Not yet sure of quite how much we've raised, but it's in the region of £800 and we are hugely grateful to Swindon and Grimsby supporters as well as the terrific staff team at the County Ground.
