Story

Prospect Bank School is a very special, unique and wonderful school. It is a school for children with additional support needs in the Leith area of Edinburgh.

Prospect Bank provides learning for primary age children with complex, long term additional support needs. The needs of learners are primarily associated with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder.

We are a small school, with 48 children. Each learner is their very own individual and our teaching is tailored this way to develop their independence and confidence. The one thing our learners has in common is the need and the right to play.

Our learners are split into 6 classes that are named after trees: Chestnut, Oak, Pine, Beech, Rowan and Willow.

Our class names reflect our love for the outdoors, to play, learn and express themselves with confidence.

Play, especially outdoors, is essential for our learners for much needed regulation, a time of learning new life skills and socialising with peers.

WHAT IS OUR GOAL?

Our goal is to fundraise enough funds to develop our playground. Prospect Bank School is turning 50 this year and while we are immensely proud of every learner who has been a part of our history and our memories, our playground has run tired.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

We have rallied a team of runners to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2025. Our team are involved in multiple races across the festival including the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, 5k and the 2k Junior.

You can help us by sponsoring our runners. Any contribution you can make would be helping us achieve our goal that our wonderful present and future learners deserve.

Many thanks,

Everyone at Prospect Bank School.
