Story
Working under the guidance of the National Trust, the Friends of Finchampstead Ridges Volunteers are helping to raise funds to repair potholes and upgrade the Car Park at Simon’s Wood.
Observations show there has been a significant increase in visitors using the car parking area with 60+ cars in the car park at a weekend.
You may be aware, income and revenue for the National Trust have been severely affected in 2020 and we are now reaching out to the local community.
We welcome any donations to help fund the repairs and any contribution would be most welcome as the much-needed repairs will enhance the visitor experience at Simon’s Wood.

The car park at Simon's Wood has had its makeover with pot holes filled, additional carparking spaces and a one way traffic flow system to make visiting and parking a better experience for everyone. Thank you again for your generous donations that made this possible - absolutely fantastic!

4 years agoWe have now closed our Just Giving page and £1,055 is a fantastic total and over double our original target of £500. Next stage: 1. Purchase 20 tonnes of repair materials 2. Select a dry spell of weather - 1 or 2 days 2. Remove dead Pine Tree and other dead overhanging branches 4. Scrape the entrance and surface areas, level and fill the holes and compact using a whacker plate. To work safely, we will need to close the car park working around 08:00 to 16:00 and will give as much notice as possible. Thank you again for the fantastic support.
