On January 23rd 2025 Neil Glover and his crew of 4 will set off from Lanzarote in a small rowing boat called Odyssey competing in an organised event to row unsupported the Atlantic Ocean arriving in Antiqua the adventure can last between 39 and 100 days being dictated to by the weather.

The adventure is revered as arguably the toughest endurance race on earth, rowing in shifts of 2 hours on 2 hours off 24 hours a day.

There is no support, so everything needed for the crossing is taken with them.

Neil competed in the challenge in 2024 – however some of the worse weather in 25 years caused the loss of their boat mid Atlantic - Neil and his rowing partner Jason were dramatically rescued by a cargo vessel, making this next attempt even more poignant – “ how many folk do you know have been shipwrecked ? not may right – well even less have been shipwrecked twice! so well be ok “ said Glover on interview with the press on announcing his intention to finish what he started.

If successful Neil and his crew will set a new world record being the oldest crew to complete the crossing in a rowing vessel.

Neil’s chosen charity is supporting a beautiful little girl who needs our help, Eleanor.

“Our pain and fear in the middle of the night battling hurricanes and waves the size of buildings pails into insignificance when compared to the daily routine of Eleanor – a beautiful little girl that needs all our help” quoted Glover

Eleanor entered this world with a set of challenges most of us cannot imagine. Born with cystic kidney dysplasia, she faced stage 5 kidney failure and an urgent need for a kidney transplant. From the moment she took her first breath, her journey has been a testament to the strength and resilience that can reside in the tiniest of warriors.

At birth, Eleanor’s prognosis was daunting. A combination of complex, unrelated medical conditions cast a shadow over her chances of survival. Yet, against all odds, she fought through those early days and weeks with an unyielding spirit. Each small victory over her myriad health issues brought her one step closer to overcoming the most formidable challenge yet: kidney failure.

The medical team’s dedication and the advancements in treatment mean that Eleanor’s chances of leading a normal, healthy life are very promising and enhanced considerably with our support.
