A group of 21 teachers are leaving their city of Hull in England to travel to Freetown in Sierra Leone. Our plan is to teach children about what it is to have a quality education and how this is their right. We also plan to train teachers in our partnered schools and share resources, planning and whole school strategies.
Each school has its own particular need. However, basic needs of water coolers, stationary and books are high on our priority list to ensure we have healthy and happy pupils in our partnered schools.
A big focus for us is to enable pupils in Freetown to access their curriculum at greater depth and we hope to do this through using digital equipment such as kindles, laptops and iPads so that they can really master their knowledge of a subject in a way we so easily do in the UK! If we could provide them with an online library, access for teachers to develop their plans through online resources and allow them to share their experiences with us using the internet, it would be incredible!
