    Story

Alice Alice, Who you ask is Alice...

Alice Barnett is my beautiful niece who tragically passed away on 2nd July 2021 at the age of 9, after battling leukaemia for the second time. In her all too short life she endured more than anyone ought to but she never complained and always had the most beautiful smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes. Our courageous warrior princess brought so much joy and light to the lives of everyone who knew her, and I am extremely grateful for all the wonderful memories we have together.

    Our Teammates are Family...

Warwickshire Bears Wheelchair Basketball Club is not just a group of individuals who gather to train and play basketball. Since joining the team it has been a pleasure getting to know everyone and forming a special bond. This is especially true of my women's teammates, after playing together on court and spending weekends away for the league, it truly feels like being part of a family.

    The Fabulous Fraser Family...

Ellan Fraser in one of the most talented young women at Bears Wheelchair Basketball Club, she has the biggest kindest heart and is a cracking player with a great future ahead of her. Jenni Fraser is Ellan's mum and the Team Manager for both Bears' Women's and Junior League Basketball Team. Both Ellan and Jenni have been very supportive through Alice's leukaemia diagnosis and treatment, and were so upset when they found out that Alice had sadly died.

When we heard about Alice losing her life after her second battle against leukaemia, we decided we wanted to do something to help contribute to the fundraising her family started in tribute to Alice. Also to help and support other children and families who face cancer and leukaemia

    The Charities....

Alice received a great deal of her care on Starlight Ward at Bristol Children's Hospital. A tribute page in Alice's name was set up by her parents via the Grand Appeal, with money raised going directly to Starlight Ward. For more information check out the link: Tribute to Alice Barnett

In order to reach more families, we want to split all money raised equally between the ward which cared for Alice and a children's cancer charity

The second charity we are fundraising for is Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group. Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group is a leading children’s cancer charity and the UK and Ireland’s professional association for those involved in the treatment and care of children with cancer. Over the last 40 years, CCLG has played a key role in the major improvements in survival rates and the standards of care for children so that over 80% of children are now cured. They are the central hub for childhood cancer through the specialist expertise of their members. For more information check out the link: Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group

Shave the Date... 23rd January 2022

Both Ellan and Jenni will be bravely facing the clippers and shaving their heads at our basketball home ground on game day. Ellan's luscious long hair is also going to be donated to the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children that lose their hair through cancer treatment. Little Princess Trust

We will also have some baked goodies on sale on the day so please do come along and cheer on Ellan and Jenni in their incredibly generous and selfless effort to raise £1000 for two fantastic charities.

Join us from 10:00 on Sunday 23rd January 2022

They've done it. Two amazing individuals who have selflessly donated their hair to The Little Princess Trust and are raising a fantastic amount of money for Starlight Ward at Bristol Children's Hospital in memory of Alice Barnett and Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group. We are keeping the page open for donations until the end of February, all donations gratefully receive 💗
