Stop Press!!!! We had a great response to people confirming their attendance at Frankenfest. We thought you’d also like to know we are running a competition for those people who kindly donate £5 and above on our Frankenfest Just Giving page to raise funds to go towards the cost of the festival.

All lovely donators will be entered into a draw to win a signed football shirt from AFC Bournemouth so it’s a great way to win a prized Possession and raise some much need funds. Please feel free to share!

Frankenfest 2017 was awesome, we hope that you all agree! You have been asking whether we are going to put this on in 2018, and we have decided to go for it! BUT, and there is a big butt (heheh) we need help in funding the event which will cost about £6,000. To save money, Fiona (from Shake and Stir) is going to put in the road closure application herself, and do the event manual, this will save about £1,000, and we have about £3,000 saved so we need to look to you guys to help us fund the rest. We need to fund the cost of fencing, security, road closure signs and first aid in order to comply with licensing requirements, and make the event safe.

We are hoping to come back with a vengeance this year and have loads of new and exciting things lined up- we will start the road closure at about 10, with events from about 12, and there will be entertainment and activities in the high street for kids all through the day. The activities are cool this year- we have interactive light installations, a creepy guess what is in the tub marquee, a zombie family, apple bobbing, pumpkin carving, and rides (and lots more). Everything will be free (apart from the rides).

We will then have the traditional halloween parade from Southbourne Green up to the stage near Lloyds Bank- as usual our friendly traders will be handing out sweets as the kids parade up the closed road (we had 500 children last year!) up to the stage where spooky stories will be read to the children and where they will be free to run around in a safe halloween environment.

Later on the event will be for grown ups, we would like to see all of Sobo in fancy dress, enjoying what is becoming Bournemouth's premier Halloween party, listening to amazing music in the High Street, having a dance and a jolly good time.

Southbourne is known for our cracking events, we have an incredible community and an incredible bunch of friendly independent traders. Please can we all pull together to make Frankenfest happen- if you can donate anything please do. This event is free to attend, all donations will go straight back into the pot.

The date for Frankenfest this year is 27 October and we need to be as close as possible to the fundraising target by 30 September so that we can book in everything that we need.
