Our story
The Foundation Group is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Essex that provides sporting activities for children of all ages. We’re delighted to announce that we have received planning permission to create a new sports hub in the London Borough of Redbridge.
Over 10,000 children have received award-winning sports coaching each week from Foundation Sports since our inception in 1999, delivered via breakfast and after-school clubs which help support working parents with childcare issues.
The aim of this exciting project is to enable sports coaching and development opportunities to be extended to the wider community.
But we need your support.
Woodford Town Football Ground has lain derelict and overgrown for 15 years until recently, as our plans to refurbish this neglected sports ground have been approved. Our vision is to develop the space creating a fantastic asset to the community, with a new pavilion and spacious grounds to be used for sports, training, health and education.
Two thirds of the work will be funded via traditional sources, but we’re asking for your help to raise a further £100,000 to create a fabulous sports facility that will be enjoyed by countless generations of children for many years to come.
This is how your donation will be spent:
• Pitch refurbishment – the facility has been derelict since 2004, so the grass is no longer fit for purpose.
• Perimeter fencing.
• Spectator facilities – for parents and carers.
• Goalposts – a range of age-appropriate goals for different sports
• Equipment and other resources.
In a wider context, this project will increase community participation and wellbeing amongst children and young people of all ages. It will include the provision of a nursery for early years, two classrooms, before and after school childcare and weekend and school holiday activities.
The site will be fully accessible, enabling children with all levels of ability and skills to participate in and enjoy a wide range of sports. It will also help to tackle the problem of local child obesity rates and improve social skills, physical development and teamwork.
This is a big project and every donation, whatever size, will go a long way in helping us to hit our target. With these improvements, the community will be in a much stronger and sustainable position to provide sporting opportunities for future generations.
Help us to help children be fit, healthy and enjoy local sport.
Please donate. Thank you.
