Story

“Young people - when informed and empowered, when they realise that what they do truly makes a difference, can indeed change the world.” - Jane Goodall

Footsteps is a youth wellbeing service based at Eaglescliffe Health Centre aiming to provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ to cater for a variety of young peoples needs. Designed by a group of local 11-19 year olds, working collaboratively with health professionals, our clinic launched in October 2018, and hasn’t seen a quiet day since. Built upon foundations of a true passion for young people and an incredible team of health professionals, wellbeing practitioners and volunteers, Footsteps is a safe place for all young people to take control of their own health and wellbeing.

The success of our service is undeniable. In May 2018, we were presented with the British Medical Journal Award for patient participation and more recently were rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC.

The demand for the service is unprecedented and, though we are happy that so many young people feel welcome at the clinic and view it as a safe space, we simply need more funding to help us reach as many people in need as we can, and provide to them all the services they need.
