I've raised £1000 to help the East Lothian foodbanks & community projects through a tough January

My name is Johnnie Meechan. I'm a married father of 5 who is fighting terminal Neuroendocrine Cancer of the liver & duodenum. I battled cancer previously in my early twenties, I managed to escape with my life but it cost me a limb in the process. Since the latest diagnosis I swore to use my time left to raise the awareness of NET cancer whilst helping others via my Journey. I never expected to get 6 years, It's a gift. I'm determined to continue on my path whilst I still can. This is Johnnie's Journey.
Doing video blogs, events or posts take a huge chunk out of me. The nerves and stress are horrible but the ends must justify the means. I like many others have had a dreadful year. I lost my wee mammy to cancer a few months back and my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer just before that. A fight that is ongoing.
After a short delay due to so much going on at home it's now time to give back to the communities of East Lothian again and help resources that have been absolutely drained due to the huge amount of people under financial restraint, out of work, having no support network and generally just needing a wee dig out. I'm talking of course about the food banks and community projects. As a family we've always donated to it and at times have found ourselves in need of it too. It's such a wonderful resource of help for anyone in need but they badly need our help. When able we should all do our part to help in whatever way possible. We raised over £6000 over the last 2 years for this cause and mountains of food items, Hopefully we can add some more this year.
We will be running the Foodbank Drive until January 27th 2023. Any money donated will go directly towards buying the urgent items in bulk to go straight to the East Lothian Foodbanks and community projects. Of course it doesn't matter which foodbank we donate to as it is shared far & wide depending which area has the urgent need. We can pick up any donations of food, toiletries ect in East Lothian & Edinburgh ourselves, If you can drop it off then even better. If you could message any of the socials, myself or a team member will send the closest drop off point or will arrange to pick up.
I'm hoping more local businesses will get involved by donating in some way or even help with a raffle prize to encourage others. You will of course get the credit, a shout out and my undying love & attention! If you can help in that sense please contact me via the socials or direct.
I'm asking you again to do something positive to start the year, No matter how big or small, it all goes to help people & families just like me or you by removing one less worry, No one should go hungry or be ashamed to ask for help.
Every £5 donated goes into a bumper raffle with a huge host of prizes from vouchers to sports memorabilia (See photos or socials for a list). Be sure to leave your name, untick anonymous. Of course if you'd rather your name wasn't there that's fine too :). Anyone donating food/toiletries goes into the same raffle. Both methods of donation and welcomed.
