Murdered Baby Boy
Cristinela has been my friend now for 6 years. We both come from Romania, although we only met here in London where we now both live and call our home.
Three years ago, Cristinela met and fell in love with a man; they shared a home and 18 months ago they were blessed with the arrival of twins, a boy Gabriel and a girl Maria. Recently Cristinela and her partner moved house with the twins to a flat in North London.
As you may have heard or seen on the news, last weekend, something went horrifically wrong in Cristinela`s relationship and her life as a result, she now finds herself in the most horrible situation, with one of her twins (Gabriel) dead and the other in hospital in a critical but stable condition. Gabriel’s father has been charged with his murder and the attempted murder of Maria, after the alleged hammer attack, Cristinela sits in hospital with Maria, willing, wishing and praying for her full recovery after surgery, for what are quite daunting head injuries for such a young child.

Cristinela is a hard working ordinary person who has a job in a North London Hotel, with the twins and the income the family had, they managed to live a reasonable but by no means luxurious life.
Sadly now (although I’m sure she hasn’t had time to even think about it with much more pressing issues on her mind) Cristinela is to be faced with a mountain of expenses for which she has little savings. Just think about it, she has the funeral of Gabriel to pay for, she has to find a new home to rent, no one could expect a mother to return to live in the house where her son was brutally murdered. She will also need to support herself in the meantime, while her baby girl recovers and she (Cristinela) is then able to return to work. Her friends have suggested that she not even return to the flat where the family lived and this in turn creates even more expense as new clothing, household effects etc will all need to be purchased.
