    Story

Florentina is a happy, determined and sassy little girl, who is a very energetic, outdoor-loving little girl who is pony mad!

On Friday 21st May 2021, just 5 days before Florentina's 4th birthday, we got the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer that has a 50-60% chance of long-term survival, but also carries a high risk of relapse which if happens survival rates dramatically decrease. We are fundraising for further treatment not available in the UK to take Florentina to The New York cancer centre to hopefully have the bivalent vaccine, it is the only pediatric tumour vaccine in existence, this would maximum the survival rate in the event of a relapse.

Florentina's main care is taken place in Great Ormond Street hospital. Florentina has already been through 14 months of frontline treatment. She has undergone some very harsh treatment including 8 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell harvest, high dose chemotherapy, 12 rounds of radiotherapy and immunotherapy.

We have had so much love and support around us from friends & family it's been overwhelming, it has given us the strength we need to battle on through and beat this.

All donations great or small will mean so much to us and we can't thank you all enough!

**Hopefully Florentina's treatment will be successful and any further treatment in the USA will be minimal. All money will be held in a holding account ready to use after Florentina's frontline treatment has finished. Any money generously donated which is not required for Florentina's treatment will be distributed to support other children with Neuroblastoma in need of help**

2nd April 2024 - Update - On Thursday our world was rocked when we were told Florentina had relapsed. Her tumour has begun to grow back despite her still being on treatment. Solving Kids Cancer and GOSH have worked wonders over the bank holiday, and managed to secure a place on a clinical trial in ROME - Car-T cell Therapy. Today we have flown to Rome to begin treatment. We need £253,000 for the treatment alone - PLEASE help us reach this new target (and more if possible) to help with flights, accommodation & other costs.

Florentina has been on this new trial drug lorlatinib along with chemo for the last 6 months. We have seen huge progress, she is eating well and back to school. Her last set of scans last week showed the 6 little nodules on the lungs remain clear, her bone marrow is clear and the tumour has shrunk to 2.5cm bearing in mind it was 14cm when she relapsed. Everything is heading in the right direction and we are so grateful! THANK YOU to all of you that continue to donate and help get Flo to NY for this vaccine she so badly needs! ❤️

Just when Flo's end of treatment scans were approaching mid July. We got the devastating news she had relapsed. We were beside ourselves & knew we had to explore more treatment for her. Flo's tumour has an ALK mutation, we were offered a place on a trial at the Royal Marsden. As there is a drug that attacks these ALK cells. The day before we were about to start, the tumour collapsed her gut. She is now on chemo to shrink the tumour and get her gut working normally & then we can proceed with the trial. We need this vaccine more than ever!
