Story
As a group of community-minded neighbours we are committed to critical recognition of those parts of our community inheritance which represent the ideologies of British Imperialism. In this case, the street names of Clive, Lytton, Cornwallis, Outram and Campbell, all names of high ranking employees of the East India Company during the British colonial period. In order to do this, we are compiling information about vital and inclusive local histories past and present that contrast starkly with the histories of these 'men'. We've already used a first donation to produce boards such as the one below. Help us raise more for the next stage of our project!

3 years agoWe want to say a huge thank you to everyone who kindly donated to this cause. Our next boards are made and will be going up in the next week or two and pamphlets, with a few exciting upcoming events, will be coming through Florence Park doors very soon as well! Couldn't of done it without you!

Very much in support of the campaign to decolonise Florence Park. Perhaps replace these names by those of Welsh mining villages or pits whose people came to work in Cowley.

Thanks for raising our awareness. Despite living in this area for a long time I had no idea until recently what those names represented. However, my Indian housemate knew exactly what they meant!

What a great way to start/spread/bring people into conversations about Britain's colonial past and its continuing effects.
