Story

Black women in the UK are 4-5 times more likely to die during pregnancy and childbirth in comparison to White women according to the MBRRACE UK maternal report 2020.

We know anecdotally from speaking to Black women, that we are also having poorer experiences in general when it comes to maternal outcomes and morbidity (illness)

Our campaign is dedicated to #PROTECTBLACKWOMEN

We work hard to raise awareness of Black women’s experiences and ensure our voices are present in key decision making spaces.

Last year was a big year for the Five X More campaign.

Our petition amassed over 187,519 signatures, we launched groundbreaking resources for pregnant people, partners and health professionals with steps to take to put an end to these shocking statistics, we developed a user friendly guide to the NHS complaints procedure and we ran the UK’s first ever Black Maternal Health Awareness Week.

And still Black women in the UK are more likely to die during pregnancy and childbirth in comparison to White women.

As a CIC we rely heavily on donations and fundraising to be able to meet our aims to increase awareness about this disparity, support women and other organisations that have been deeply affected, encourage research and influence government for change. Your continued support will help amplify our voices and experiences and advocate for a much needed change.

Thank you for supporting our campaign with a donation.
