Story

This is Elliot. He’s was born on 15th March 2019.

Due to complications at birth Elliot suffered HIE which has left him with a grade 3 brain injury.

For those who don’t know, HIE (hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy) is a lack of oxygen and or blood flow getting to the baby from the placenta, which in this instance affected Elliots brain.

Elliot spent 23 days at St Peters level 3 Neonatal intensive care unit where he underwent cooling therapy.

Elliots’ brain injury is to the Basal Ganglia which is associated with a variety of functions including; control of voluntary motor movements, habit learning, eye movement, cognition and emotion

Els has lots of different therapies and physio sessions to help with his movement, eye tracking, body awareness and to help stimulate his nervous system. He also needs specialist equipment to help with his posture and to keep him supported while he eats and plays

Elliot’s various treatments and equipment, although amazing, come at a hefty price and are often partially covered or not covered at all by the NHS. Even when they are, NHS waiting lists can be excessive.

We want to do what little we can to help Elliot and ensure he has everything he needs to continue his growth and development.

That’s why this year we have decided to start the 5k Everyday challenge throughout the whole of August 2020 to help raise money towards Elliots’ rehabilitation and equipment costs.

That’s right... 5 Kilometres

EVERYDAY

for 31 days (155k total)

And we need your support!

We’ve set up a Just Giving Page that links directly to Elliots donations account.

Any donation will go a huge way to supporting him!

Our aim is to make £1000 but obviously more the merrier!

Thank you for reading his story... please dig deep!
