Story

Every Hallowe'en, the spooky kids of Fishergate create amazing pumpkin creations to raise money for charity. The pumpkins light up the playground for the Hallowe'en Disco. We can't be together for Hallowe'en this year, but we won't let coronavirus stop our school community raising money for the causes we care about.

In 2020, pupils will be asked to carve a pumpkin at home and send a photo of it (along with the child's name and year group - *no children in the photos please*) to friendsoffishergate@gmail.com and make a donation via this page to Carecent. The photos will all be displayed on the school website at fishergateschool.com and our fantastic school volunteer Mr Bartlett will pick 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners from EYU / KS1 and from KS2. Winners will receive a beautiful certificate and a spooky prize.

Over the years, our School Council has chosen Carecent as the Charity we raise money for. Fishergate pupils want to help Carecent support homeless people in our city through the coldest months of the year.

"Carecent is a breakfast centre for all homeless, unemployed or otherwise socially excluded members of our community. We provide food, clothing and fellowship in a friendly and non-judgemental environment. Our volunteer staff are always ready to listen and offer support and advice where possible. Where appropriate, we work with other agencies in order to move people forward to an improved lifestyle."
