Story

On Monday 8th May, Leva was diagnosed with cancer. Her diagnoses is Rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue sarcoma on the top of her bladder. Apparently this is very rare with only 60 people a year in the UK being diagnosed.

She had only complained of a sore tummy a couple of times. Her local GP referred her to Ninewells hospital who quickly referred her on to The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh for further test and scans.

The consultants in Edinburgh have started chemotherapy early and have recently carried out surgery. They are unsure yet if Leva will be able to have radiotherapy so she may have to travel to America for Proton treatment.

We want to help support Leva and her family during a very difficult time by helping them financially and hope that they can use some of the funds raised to treat Leva too.

On Sunday 17th September, myself and my colleagues from the Scottish branches of Skipton Building Society are cycling the Loch Leven Heritage Trail (21 km) to raise money for this amazing little girl. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
