Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.
On the 14th of June this year my cousin Senga began her long and brave battle with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), which is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Senga means the world to our family and has been fighting bravely for the past 3 months against this horrific and unforgiving illness. To show our support and love we are hoping to raise money for the amazing team at Haematology, Ward 16, Monklands Hospital, who have treated, cared for and supported, not only Senga but countless other people, through everything they face to win their fight against cancer.
When I started writing this page I asked Senga’s husband, Allan, to help me with some of the details of the Ward and Senga’s illness. This is his touching message, I thought it best to leave it exactly as he told it to me …
Where to start...
The ward is Monklands 16, which specialises in Haematology. All patients are admitted with blood disorders, and as such the ward is classified as a clean ward (sterile). Their rules regarding visiting differ from the other wards in order to protect the patients (who are all susceptible to infections). The “no children visiting” is probably the hardest thing for Senga to take as she really misses the grand weans. The staff are more like friends than carers, always having time to sit and chat with her, cheering her up when she is down and sometimes having a right good giggle. You can genuinely see their concern when she has been at her worst. How they do it I don't know, since Senga has been there we have seen rooms occupied then become free again with the worst possible outcome, that is the nature of the illness. I don't only consider the nurses as being her only carers, the domestic staff have been an absolute God send; making her tea on request, going to the shop for her, doing the ugly side like cleaning/changing the rooms. I genuinely feel that through all this she has made new friends.
Allan
On Saturday the 13th of October Senga’s friends, family and loved ones will be taking part in a charity football match and karaoke, in the hope of raising as much money as we can for Ward 16 and the selfless staff who work there. Can I ask that you give whatever you can to help us reach our target of £2000. Whatever you can give is greatly appreciated and will go a long way towards helping our loved ones now and in the future.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story.

I’d like to ask for your help to raise funds for Haematology, Ward 16, Monklands Hospital in the name of my cousin Senga Mccoll, who’s currently battling AML Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Let’s smash this target for all the amazing staff looking after Senga and others in her position
