Story
Thank you for visiting this page.
After the government rejected the extension of free school meals this half-term and over Christmas during this pandemic, we know it will push more families to food banks.
So we wanted to play our small part and help feed the most vulnerable in our city. Funds raised will be shared between food poverty charities Plymouth Foodbank and Provide Devon .
Government figures from before the pandemic show that over 9,000 children in Plymouth live in poverty. In places like Ernesettle and King's Tamerton, a troubling 32 per cent of children were estimated to be living in poverty in 2019. Marcus Rashford has highlighted the 250% recent increase in food poverty, and behind those statistics lie real families, real children, and real hungry tummies at bedtime.
Thank you for your support.

4 years agoTHANK YOU PLYMOUTH. What an amazing 24 hours. Not only did our fundraiser smash our initial target (currently at over £6k - WOW!) but late today the news came in that Plymouth City Council would provide Free School Meals to eligible children this half term. Every donation has been incredible and reminded us of the best of Plymouth. I've spoken to the two food poverty charities today who will share this money and they are absolutely delighted and ensure it is put to good use to support those most in need in Plymouth, both now and at Christmas.

The government is a disgrace. Well done for helping with what is needed to keep people fed.

It is crazy that in 2020 we have a government that thinks letting children go hungry is the right thing to do.
