Iʼve raised £1,597 to help repair Fazeley War Memorial where someone has tried to scratch out the name of Sir Robert Peel.

Story
It was brought to our attention that somebody has tried to scratch off the name off Sir Robert Peel's name from Fazeley War Memorial. We aren't sure when this was done, but we know it is absolutely appalling, and almost certainly a case of mistaken identity.
This Sir Robert Peel was just 22 years old when he died at sea in World War Two. He is the sixth Sir Robert Peel and the last of the Tamworth line, and this is no way for us to remember him and mark his fantastic contribution to the war effort.
Thank you for all of your donations - these have been passed on to Fazeley Town Council.

Thank you for honouring the memory of those having fallen in the WWII by making repair of the Memorial Plaque. Local people should know the background to the six Sir Robert Peels!
