The NHS and frontline Keyworkers are facing a severe shortage of essential Personnal Protective Equipment (PPE) as a result of the current Covid-19 outbreak.

I have decided to switch my build focus to the production and distribution of free PPE full face shields for frontline workers and healthcare facilities.

This will involve the 3d printing of headbands and visor supports, a full face plastic shield will then be added and once disinfected the unit will be bagged and sealed before being distributed to those needing its protection.

I have the machines necessary for this task and a limited amount of resources for production which has already begun, but I need help to sustain production in the form of donations from you the public to help protect the people that keep us safe so that they can continue to be there for those that will need their experience and skillsets in the future.

Donated funds will be used to purchase the filament used to 3d print the parts. It will also be used to purchase the plastic protective visors and the buttonhole elastic straps as well as the disinfectant and bags for safe distribution. Funds will also allow us to cover fuel or postage costs for distribution to the frontline staff that need them.

All visors produced at our location will be distributed free of charge and no donated funds will be used for anything other than the required manufacture and distribution expenses under any circumstances.

While any donation however small will directly benefit those putting themselves on the line for our wellbeing I have set an initial target of £3500, this figure would ensure that a considerable number of units could be produced and allow me to expand daily production significantly.

With this in mind and the likelyhood that ourselves and/or those we know and care about will need the specialist care of these selfless individuals in the future I would ask that you please donate what you can as soon as you can so that I can support them on your behalf, In return I will give you my word that the production of these much needed PPE units will continue 24/7 while ever they are required.

Distribution will primarily focus on local needs with a intention of supplying farther afield once these needs are met and should I manage to increase production through your contributions.

The initial target will allow us to get started and produce 24/7 over the next few weeks, the more donations we recieve the longer we can continue production and distribution to the people who need them most. It is my hope and intention to continue producing this PPE until the need for them is over.

I am currently exploring the possibility of supplying Ninewells and Arbroath Infirmary and discussing the changes, if any, required in print materials or design to make this happen ASP. Until then I will continue to supply other local frontline keyworkers and facilities in the local area.
